You can try and do finance yourselves and try and dig into things but you’re never going to be an expert, as Ben is, with all of the taxes, and government legislation and company implications.
Warren and Sarah’s story
Sarah: We were just earning money and not sure what best to do with it. We’d got a little bit of protection in place but that was all out of date. And we had a lot of conversations with parents saying, “you really ought to speak to someone. It’s not pretentious and we don’t feel out of our depth. We completely trust them to deal with all the things we haven’t got the time of the knowledge to understand. Ben’s got so much patience in explaining things over and over again when he needs to, and also accepting when we change our minds.
Warren: He has the knowledge of how to run the bits we’re not familiar with. You can try and do finance yourselves and try and dig into things but you’re never going to be an expert, as Ben is, with all of the taxes, and government legislation and company implications because we run a company and need to get money out of that. It’s having someone we trust to do that. And he’s worked with us for ages and is always very friendly and has a personal approach to things. Our incomes have also grown over the time but even when we didn’t have a particularly great income, it never felt like a barrier to talking to him about anything. He’d always help us.
Sarah: The main reason we went with Cordiner Wealth is that they’ve looked after my parents and grandparents so we’ve managed to have an integrated family approach to wealth management and inheritance tax planning and that’s all been done very tactfully and confidentially as required.
Warren: He’s always very approachable and flexible, meeting with us via video calls, phone calls or in person.
Sarah: It’s been really helpful working with someone who understands how it is to run your own company as that’s what they do. So we’ve had some really good advice on making sure the company assets work for us as a family.
